Hi, I just want to say that I adore this blog, and any blog that is similar to this one. It's nice to see a place that people can go to and talk about the issues that they've been facing as a person who is facing prejudice. My own attitude is one similar to Brittany S. Pierce's and I therefore have a more carefree attitude towards sexuality but I know if I face any issues that there is a place here for me to come to which is very comforting, thank you! x

Hey! Thanks so much for the kind message, and of course Lou and I are always here to offer advice or support. Feel free to message me on my personal blog if you like. Stay fabulous!

Yesterday Lincoln, Nebraska’s city council voted 5 - 0 in favor of adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the city’s nondiscrimination policy. Today the Nebraska Family Council has announced they will be heavily working the churches to get 2500 signatures that would force the ordinance on the November’s ballot. I’m so pissed off right now.
When will we quit letting the bullies in this country ruin the lives of the majority?
It is because of the bullies that we need ordinances for protection.
It is because of the bullies that our percentages of suicides both attempts and completions are increasing.
It is because of the bullies that we feel like we’ve lost our voices and can only express our feelings through self-injury.
We need a ballot initiative that will end this bullshit from a group that uses their own twisted non-realities to rule the decisions of others.

A group of Christians showed up at a Chicago gay pride parade in July.
They were holding up signs saying “I’m sorry that Christians judge you”
“I’m sorry for how the churches treated you” and “I used to be a bible-banging homophobe, I’m sorry”

This isn’t what I normally post, but it’s too beautiful to pass up.

I wish so much that I could have been a part of this. Bravo.

So, I was reading through my comments the other day when I came across one that really disturbed me…This girl is really pretty. NO HOMO. I know what you’re thinking “It’s 2012 who still says that”. I thought the same thing too. But for those of you who don’t know. No Homo is a qualifier that is used to assure your present company that you are not in fact a homosexual. Because this phrase makes my skin crawl. I decided to make up a few qualifiers of my own and with your help I hope that I can make these really popular in 2012. - Chescaleigh

TRANS COUCHSURFING NETWORK - PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST THE HELL OUT OF THIS

transcouchnetwork:

Hi! I just started a tumblr, the Transgender Couchsurfing Network.  After seeing dozens of posts come across my dash about displaced or homeless trans people needing places to crash, I decided that there had to be a way to organize these posts somehow, and to put those in need in contact with those willing to lend a hand.  If you’re trans and need a place to stay, or if you have a couch or floor or spare bedroom available for someone in need, I urge you to reblog this post, follow the blog, and get the word out.  Everything is still under heavy construction, but the more people that see and hear about this blog, the more people will be able to benefit from it!  I know that there are so many people here on tumblr who are in need of a place to stay for a night or two, and I also know how many amazing, wonderful people would be willing to host someone and help out a trans person in need.  We all know what a huge problem unemployment and homelessness are for trans people (especially TPOC and trans women) — even a place to stay for a night can make the biggest difference!  So PLEASE, even if you can’t offer up your couch, REBLOG AND SIGNAL BOOST.  I really, really think that this is something that could help a lot of people, and I would LOVE to see this spammed all over my dash and the dashes of all of my lovely followers!!

While I think coming out stories are important — because most LGBT people will need to go through a coming out process at some point in their lives — there are some people for whom sexuality is a non-issue. Brittany never questioned her affection for Santana. Never, ever, ever. Brittany is attracted to a person, not a gender, and because her attraction to Santana felt as natural to her as breathing, she never wrestled with her feelings. Brittany’s story is a true one too, one that’s becoming even more common, and it hints at a future where love is love is love is love, and everyone’s as at ease about it as a gay flag-waving unicorn. - Heather Hogan
